Freedom on the Tyne by Daniel Adams

Freedom on the Tyne was part of Freedom City, a wide cultural programme of events, performed across Newcastle to mark the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King receiving his honorary degree from Newcastle University.

We have an ongoing relationship with NewcastleGateshead Initiative (NGI) who partnered Northern Roots and Newcastle University to create this ambitious large scale outdoor event and it was great to work alongside them to manage the production. This event saw the whole city used as a stage, including mass performance participation from community groups with the option for the audience to follow different routes starting from all corners of Newcastle, each telling a story of freedom through history. This culminated in a finale performance on the Tyne Bridge where we managed the production, rigging and staffing of a major light, sound and aerial spectacle.

Needless to say, it was pretty epic!

Live From Times Square by Daniel Adams

Last month was a busy one, it started with Live From Times Square in Newcastle Upon Tyne. This year was a huge success. 7 days of shows with headline sets from The Libertines, Manic Street Preachers, Hacienda Classical, Brian Wilson, Leftfield, James and Jake Bugg over two consecutive weekends.

DATevents have been working with SSD concerts providing production and event safety management for this popular event for the past 2 years and its great to see this hometown show go from strength to stregth.

We had sun, we had rain....and most of all we had good vibrations (Thanks Brian!)

The rest of August has seen long hours in the office planning for our next big event... more info to come.
